Autodesk presented its latest Webinar, 'Automotive visualization, new quality standards in Virtual Prototyping', on 11 April. Virtual Prototyping is one of the most important steps in the development of a new car allowing the evaluation of a prototype in different aspects before it's even built. Autodesk's new VRED product line can be used throughout the whole design and construction process on a single data basis, without the need to re-do work.
Plans to introduce a drug-drive limit have edged closer as limits for 16 different drugs have been approved. Eight prescription and eight illicit drugs have been added to the regulations which will be introduced this autumn, meaning it’ll be an offence to be over the prescribed limits. Police will be clamping down on people who drive after taking drugs such as cannabis with a limit of 2 micrograms per litre (mcg/l), cocaine (10mcg/l) and ecstasy (10mcg/l) – while people who take prescription drugs like morphine (80mcg/l) and diazepam (550mcg/l) will also have to be careful not to break the limit.

Volvo has been busy teasing a new Polestar model recently, and we concluded it would be a fast Volvo estate in the guise of a production Volvo V60 Polestar. And that’s exactly what it is. This isn’t a Polestar add-on (which is already available for the T6 versions of the V60 and S60) but a stand-alone model with the same underpinnings as the S60 Polestar recently revealed for the Australian market (which now becomes a global offering).
